Bichectomy

Bichectomy

The face can be considered as one of the most important criteria affecting the concept of beauty. Today, with the increasing interest in beauty and aesthetics, aesthetic procedures applied to the face area are in demand.

Very good results can be obtained from the aesthetic methods applied by people who want to have a younger and flawless appearance. Bichectomy, known as cheek sagging aesthetics, is one of the most preferred aesthetic applications. Thanks to the bichectomy, the facial area becomes tighter and the facial features are clarified.

What is a Bichectomy?

Bichectomy is the process of removing the cheek fat pad (bicitate tissue) between the bottom of the cheekbones called zygoma and the upper part of the chin. Bichectomy, or the recently popularized hollywood cheek, can be applied to people who want to thin the face and gain a more aesthetic appearance. Thanks to the bichectomy, the cheekbones can gain an even more prominent appearance. However, some people may need cheek fillers to achieve a better result.

How is a bichectomy done?

In bichectomy surgery, a small incision is made in the mouth and the bichectomy tissue is removed. Since the incision remains inside the cheek, no surgical scar is visible from the outside. Processing time is completed in approximately 30-45 minutes. Bichectomy can often be performed in conjunction with other aesthetic procedures. These; There may be applications such as rhinoplasty, chin aesthetics, upper eyelid aesthetics. Although the thinning of the cheek area starts to show itself after 1 month with bichectomy surgery, full recovery may take up to 3 months. Bichectomy is a permanent and non-repetitive procedure.

To Whom Is Bichectomy Performed?

Bichectomy can be performed by people who are not satisfied with the cheek area and correct the face shape, regardless of male or female. However, bichectomy can be applied to make a triangular appearance in people with a square or round face in general. Bichectomy can also be applied to people with a normal weight or body mass index to eliminate swelling on the face and to thin out the rounded facial features that make them look heavier.

What are the Points to Consider After Bichectomy Surgery?

There are some things that patients should pay attention to after bichectomy surgery. These can be counted as avoiding hot, spicy and bitter foods for a few days after the surgery to avoid the risk of bleeding in the incision area. Apart from this, edema and hematoma (blood accumulation) can be seen on the cheeks and especially towards the chin area after the surgery. It may be beneficial to apply ice compresses to these areas frequently for rapid healing of edema and hematomas. Apart from these, antibiotics and antiseptic mouthwashes are recommended by doctors against post-operative infection and bacterial formation.
